Course Description

This program delineates the responsibilities of individuals employing project management expertise in diverse contexts spanning multiple industry sectors. Job positions aligned with this qualification encompass Project Manager and Project Team Leader roles.

Those occupying these positions assume leadership and management responsibilities for accomplishing project objectives. Grounded in a robust theoretical knowledge foundation, they employ a spectrum of specialised, technical, and managerial competencies to commence, strategise, implement, and assess their own tasks, as well as those entrusted to others.

  • Duration: This will be delivered over 58 weeks of course duration, including 50 weeks of delivery plus 8 weeks of holidays. Students are required to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week.
  • Pre-requisites: There are no prerequisites for this qualification.
  • Mode of Study:Students are required to attend 15 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction and 5 hours of online training via MS Teams synchronously each week. Students are required to attend 20 hours of training per week.

  • Course Structure: To achieve qualification BSB50820-Diploma of Project Management, students must complete the following 12 units of competencies: 8 core units, plus, 4 elective units.
  • Assessment Methods: Case studies, Projects, Reports, Presentations/Role plays, Knowledge Test, Research
  • Pathways from the qualification: Successful completion may enable the student to apply for BSB60720 - Advanced Diploma of Program Management or Degree Level courses at other institutions.
  • Employment/Career pathway: Units in this qualification reflect the knowledge and skills of individuals with significant experience in: Project manager (generic) ,Project manager (industry-specific), Project leader ,Project team leader, Project contract manager, Project vendor manager.

Entry Requirements

  • Be 18 years or over
  • Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent
  • Be competent in written and spoken English with an IELTS Score of no less than 6 or equivalent language test score
  • IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) before the main VET course, or
  • IELTS score of 5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) before the main VET course.
  • Results older than two years are not acceptable.
  • Other acceptable English language tests include TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), and TOEFL PBT.
  • Any AQF qualification at the Certificate III level or above in any discipline area delivered and assessed in English only will be deemed as meeting both the academic and English language entry requirements.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirement

  • All applicants must undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test prior to enrolment. This ensures that appropriate academic support can be provided if required and that students are set up for success throughout their course.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Student Equipment Requirements

  • Students should have access to a computer, laptop or tablet with internet connection to participate in online components of the course, complete assessments, and access digital learning materials. Basic stationery is also recommended. Charging facilities may not be available in classrooms.

Entry Requirements

  • Age Requirements: Students must be above 18 years of age when filling out the application form.
  • Pre-training Review (PTR): A PTR will be conducted before enrollment to ensure that the training meets individual needs. The PTR form must be submitted with the application form, and it covers a review of current competencies, English level, support requirements, and oral communication skills.

English Language Requirements for International Students:

  • Minimum IELTS (General) test score of 5.5 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course.
  • IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) before the main VET course.
  • IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) before the main VET course.
  • Results older than two years are not acceptable.

Academic Requirements:

Successful completion of year 12/Senior Secondary School studies in the home country equivalent to the Australian Senior Secondary School Examination (Year 12).

 

Mature Age students without minimum education requirements must demonstrate relevant work experience and a capacity to meet course requirements.

  • Language, Literacy, and Numeracy Test (LLN): Students must undertake an LLN test to ensure sound numeracy skills. Support will be provided based on the test outcome.
  • Computer Literacy Requirements: Basic computer skills are required. Students without these skills will receive support or may be referred for basic computer training.
  • Materials and Equipment Required: Access to a laptop or computer with the Windows 7 operating system or higher is needed for self-study. An active email address is required for communication.
