Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have significant experience in specialist technical skills, or managerial business and people management skills.

Individuals in these roles carry out complex tasks in a specialist field, working independently, leading a team or a strategic direction of a business. They apply their skills across a wide range of industries and business functions, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).

  • Duration: The qualification is delivered over 104 weeks comprising of:
    • 8 terms of 10 weeks each (80 weeks’ total)
    • Holiday breaks amounting to 24 weeks
  • Pre-requisites: There are no prerequisites for this qualification.
  • Mode of Study: Students are required to attend 15 hours of face-to-face classroom instruction and 5 hours of online training via MS Teams synchronously each week. Students are required to attend 20 hours of training per week.
  • Delivery Location: Unit 2 206-208 Liverpool Rd, Ashfield- NSW 2131
  • Course Structure: To achieve qualification ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, students must complete the following 16 units of competencies: 6 core units, plus, 10 elective units.
  • Assessment Methods: Case studies, Projects, Reports, Presentations/Role plays, Knowledge Test, Research
  • Pathways from the qualification: Successful completion of this course may qualify students to apply for Graduate Certificate programs in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or other relevant fields such as optical fibre, networking, etc., offered by other institutions. Additionally, it may open doors to pursue various degree programs in related fields.
  • Employment/Career pathway: Units in this qualification reflect the knowledge and skills of individuals with significant experience in various roles such as telecommunications Network Engineer, Communications Consultant, Communications Specialist (ICT), Telecommunications Consultant, or Telecommunications Specialist.

Entry Requirements

  • Be 18 years or over
  • A PTR will be conducted before enrolment to ensure that the training meets individual needs. The PTR form must be submitted with the application form, and it covers a review of current competencies, English level, support requirements, and oral communication skills.
  • Successful completion of year 12/Senior Secondary School studies in the home
  • Country equivalent to the Australian Senior Secondary School Examination (Year 12).
  • Minimum IELTS (General) test score of 6.0 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course, or
  • IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) before the main VET course, or
  • IELTS score of 5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) before the main VET course.
  • Results older than two years are not acceptable.
  • Other acceptable English language tests include TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), and TOEFL PBT.

Note: Lotus College does not deliver ELICOS courses.Students who require English language training may complete an ELICOS course with another approved provider prior to enrolling at Lotus College

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirement

  • All applicants must undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test prior to enrolment. This ensures that appropriate academic support can be provided if required and that students are set up for success throughout their course.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Student Equipment Requirements

  • Students should have access to a computer, laptop or tablet with internet connection to participate in online components of the course, complete assessments, and access digital learning materials. Basic stationery is also recommended. Charging facilities may not be available in classrooms.
